The following highlights key projects and initiatives approved at the most recent Board of Supervisors meeting, that directly impact the Fifth District.

Board Agenda Item #22 – $2.8M to Support Housing Stability for Transition Age Youth

The Board approved moving forward with nearly $2.8 million in state funding to help young adults ages 18–24 find and maintain stable housing, with priority for youth currently or formerly in foster care or the probation system.

These resources will help connect young adults with housing assistance and the support they need to build a more stable, independent future.

Board Agenda Item #23 – $28M Commitment to San Bernardino Community College District’s Legacy Village

The Board approved a conditional $28 million commitment to help advance Legacy Village, a proposed community next to San Bernardino Valley College that would bring together affordable housing, workforce housing and student housing.

With connections to education, job training and supportive services, this project is about creating pathways to greater stability and opportunity for residents and students in our community.

Board Agenda Item #61 – Strengthening Public Safety on Omnitrans Bus System

The Board approved an agreement between Omnitrans and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to provide a dedicated law enforcement presence across the Omnitrans bus system.

Beginning in January 2027, dedicated Sheriff’s personnel will help enhance safety for passengers, transit employees and the communities Omnitrans serves — at no cost to the County’s discretionary general fund.

Board Agenda Item #63 – More Streetlights are Coming to the Rialto Area

The Board approved a $304,711 project to install four new streetlights — three along East Sycamore Avenue and one on Olive Avenue.

These improvements will help address existing dark areas, improve nighttime visibility and create safer streets for pedestrians, drivers and nearby residents.
