The following highlights key projects and initiatives approved at the most recent Board of Supervisors meeting, that directly impact the Fifth District.
Item #23 – County Libraries to Serve as PSPS Community Resource Center
County libraries, including the Bloomington Library, will now be able to serve as a Community Resource Center during Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and other qualifying public safety events through a new partnership between San Bernardino County Library and Southern California Edison. This partnership helps ensure county residents have a safe, accessible place to stay connected and access important resources when power is shut off for public safety.
Item #25 – Expanding Food Assistance for Local Families
San Bernardino County is partnering with Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County to provide monthly food assistance at no cost to eligible families enrolled in the County’s Early Head Start, Head Start Preschool, and State Preschool programs. San Bernardino County Preschool Services currently serves approximately 2,039 children ages 0–5 through these programs.
Item #34 – New Multi-Way Stop Coming to the El Rancho Verde Area
A new multi-way stop is coming to Date Avenue and Country Club Drive in the unincorporated Rialto area. After a resident raised concerns about visibility and vehicle speeds, County Public Works reviewed the intersection and identified limited visibility for drivers. The improvements will add new stop signs on Country Club Drive, along with pavement markings and “STOP AHEAD” signs to help make the intersection safer for everyone.
Item #49 – Strengthening Wildfire Response
San Bernardino County is investing $684,250 to build a new permanent Wildland Firefighting Helitanker Station at Glen Helen Regional Park. The new station will provide a dedicated water supply where firefighting helitankers can refill their water tanks in minutes, reducing turnaround time between water drops and helping aircraft return to wildfire suppression efforts faster. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2026 and be completed by Summer 2027.
Item #51 – $3.3 Million for ADA Improvements in Rosena Ranch
San Bernardino County is investing $3.3 million to improve accessibility throughout the Rosena Ranch community. The Rosena Ranch ADA Ramps I & II Project will upgrade 145 ADA ramps to meet current accessibility requirements and create safer, more accessible pathways for residents.
The project is currently in the design phase, with more updates to come as it moves toward construction.
