The following highlights key projects and initiatives approved at the most recent Board of Supervisors meeting, that directly impact the Fifth District.
Solar Lighting Coming to Cactus Trail in Rialto
Supervisor Baca, Jr. is investing $859,100 of his Discretionary Funding to install solar-powered lighting along the Cactus Trail in Rialto, improving visibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists along the 1.5-mile corridor between Rialto Avenue and Baseline Road. The project will be led by the City of Rialto and adds to recent trail upgrades, creating a safer and more accessible space for the community to walk, bike, and enjoy.
Homeless Outreach Services Authorized on State Property
San Bernardino County has received approval from the California Department of Transportation to conduct homeless outreach, service coordination, and relocation assistance on state-owned properties for one year. This agreement allows outreach teams to safely connect individuals experiencing homelessness with housing, healthcare, and supportive services, helping expand access to critical resources across the County — at no cost to taxpayers.
Glen Helen Parkway Bridge Project Moving Forward
Progress continues on the new Glen Helen Parkway Bridge in Devore, a key project that will improve traffic flow and connectivity over the Cajon Wash. This latest approval simply streamlines how construction funds are managed behind the scenes, helping keep the project on schedule with no additional cost to taxpayers, as work moves toward completion in 2027.
