Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. joined City of San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran, community leaders, and KKC Little League families to celebrate the completion of major improvements at Gutierrez Park made possible through a $750,000 allocation from the Fifth District Office.
The investment funded significant upgrades to the park, including baseball field lighting improvements, infield renovations, and a new scoreboard, helping create a safer and more modern space for local youth athletes and families.
“These improvements at Gutierrez Park are about more than just baseball fields — they are about investing in our youth, creating safe spaces for families, and strengthening community pride,” said Joe Baca Jr.. “I remember coming to the West End of San Bernardino and playing on these very fields as a kid. Seeing these upgrades come to life means future generations will have an even better place to grow, compete, and create lasting memories.”
Mayor Helen Tran emphasized the importance of partnerships in delivering community improvements.
“This project reflects what can happen when local partnerships come together with a shared commitment to our neighborhoods and youth,” said Mayor Helen Tran. “Gutierrez Park is an important gathering place for our community, and these upgrades will enhance the experience for families and players throughout San Bernardino.”
KKC Little League President Ben Salgado highlighted the lasting impact the improvements will have on the league and its players.
“These upgrades are transformational for our league and the families we serve,” said Ben Salgado, President of KKC Little League. “The improved facilities will provide our players with a better experience, allow us to continue growing the league, and create opportunities for kids to thrive both on and off the field. We are incredibly grateful for the support from Supervisor Baca, Mayor Tran, and all of our community partners.”
The celebration brought together residents, local leaders, and youth athletes to recognize the continued investment in parks, recreation, and quality-of-life improvements throughout San Bernardino County’s Fifth District.
