The following highlights key projects and initiatives approved at the most recent Board of Supervisors meeting that directly impact the Fifth District.
Indian Springs High School Wellness Center Underway
The Indian Springs High School Wellness Center Project will renovate about 2,000 square feet of space in the school’s administrative building to create a wellness center serving 2,000 students. The project will provide mental and physical health support services, funded by $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
New Agreements Provide CalWORKs Recipients with Fire District Work Experience
San Bernardino County partners with departments such as the Fire Protection District, County Library, Children and Family Services, ARMC, and Preschool Services to provide CalWORKs Work Experience (WEX) participants with hands-on training that builds job skills and prepares them for future employment. Participants may request to join the program and must meet pre-employment requirements like background checks and physical exams, with some departments requiring additional clearances. Through subsidized, unsubsidized, and community service placements, WEX offers meaningful opportunities that can lead to long-term, unsubsidized jobs. Contact the Transitional Assistance Department for more information at 909-388-0245.
