SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY – After 15 months of dedicated efforts, the San Bernardino County Homeless Ad Hoc Committee was officially sunset following its final meeting on March 11, 2025. The Committee was temporarily established to enhance collaboration and develop innovative solutions for addressing homelessness. During its tenure, the Committee made significant strides in advancing the County’s response to this urgent issue.
Supervisors Joe Baca, Jr. and Curt Hagman were selected by Chairman Rowe to serve on the Committee, facilitating meaningful discussions and promoting action-oriented solutions. Their leadership, along with the contributions of various stakeholders, has resulted in several notable achievements, including:
- The development of County Housing Guidelines, now approved by the Board of Supervisors.
- The advancement of housing and shelter projects aimed at supporting individuals in need.
- The launch of a data-sharing and integration initiative to improve coordination of services.
- The creation of a homeless encampment dashboard for more effective tracking and response to encampments.
- Strengthened partnerships with cities in the West End to foster a regional approach to addressing homelessness.
Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to support individuals experiencing homelessness. “Our work does not end here. While the Ad Hoc Committee has accomplished a great deal, we must continue to build upon these initiatives to provide sustainable housing and resources for those in need,” said Supervisor Baca. “The County remains committed to working with our partners to ensure that every resident has a path toward stability and self-sufficiency.”
Supervisor Curt Hagman echoed this sentiment, highlighting the Committee’s impact. “This Ad Hoc Committee has been instrumental in driving real progress in our fight against homelessness,” said Supervisor Hagman. “By working collaboratively with our cities and community partners, we have laid the foundation for long-term solutions that will continue to benefit our most vulnerable residents. I want to thank everyone who dedicated their time and effort to this important cause.”
Although the Committee has been sunset, Board Members will continue to stay engaged, and the County will persist in its efforts through various programs and partnerships.
