San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. joined the City of Rialto, North Rialto Little League, players, coaches, families and community members to celebrate improvements to North Rialto Little League made possible through a $1.6 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) investment from the Fifth District.
Allocated by Supervisor Baca in 2023, the funding supported improvements to the league’s restroom and snack bar facilities, enhancing a community space that serves young athletes and their families throughout the baseball season.
For Supervisor Baca, the project represents more than an investment in facilities. It reflects his commitment to making lasting improvements that will continue benefiting Rialto families and future generations of young athletes well beyond his time on the Board of Supervisors.
“When we invest in our local leagues, we invest in our youth and families,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “I’m especially proud that this $1.6 million investment will continue giving back, as the improved snack bar provides the league with an important way to fundraise and reinvest in its young athletes. This is the kind of lasting impact I hope to leave throughout the Fifth District.”
Local Little Leagues rely on volunteers, community support and fundraising to provide opportunities for young people to participate in sports. The improved snack bar will not only better serve families on game days but also support the league’s ability to raise funds that can be reinvested into its players and programs.
“These improvements will make a lasting difference for our league and the families we serve,” said Gil Martinez, President of North Rialto Little League. “We’re grateful to Supervisor Baca, the County and the City of Rialto for investing in our young athletes and helping strengthen North Rialto Little League for years to come.”
The project was made possible through a partnership between San Bernardino County and the City of Rialto, demonstrating how collaboration between local governments can bring meaningful improvements directly to neighborhoods and families.
“North Rialto Little League has been an important part of our community for generations, bringing our young people and families together,” said Rialto Mayor Joe Baca, Sr. “We’re proud to partner with Supervisor Baca and San Bernardino County to make improvements that will serve Rialto’s young athletes and families for many years to come.”
For the young athletes who call these fields home, the improvements represent an investment in a place where they can play, develop friendships and create memories with their teammates and families.
“I love being able to come here, play baseball with my teammates and have my family watch us play,” said Kieran Lewis, North Rialto Little League player. “It’s exciting to see our park getting better, and I’m happy that other kids will get to enjoy it too.”
North Rialto Little League provides local youth with opportunities to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and leadership while bringing families together through youth sports. The completed improvements will help ensure the league remains a welcoming gathering place for Rialto families for years to come.
