Families from across the community gathered for a day of fresh air, laughter, and colorful kites at the 4th annual Kite Day, a beloved outdoor event that encourages families to unplug, look up, and spend quality time together—without their phones.

Hosted by Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., in partnership with Regional Parks and Bloomington Parks and Rec, Kite Day once again brought children, parents, and neighbors together for a simple but meaningful reminder of the joy found in outdoor play and shared experiences. From first-time flyers to seasoned kite pros, attendees filled the sky with vibrant colors while creating memories on the ground.

“This is one of our favorite annual events because it brings families together in the most genuine way—outside, laughing, and making memories,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.

The event would not have been possible without the support of dedicated community partners who spent the day engaging with families and helping make the celebration a success.

“It’s truly wonderful seeing so many families spending time outdoors, staying active, enjoying our parks, and sharing quality time together,” added Beahta Davis, San Bernardino County Regional Parks Director.

For many of the youngest attendees, the day was about fun, freedom, and flying their kite as high as it could go.

“I want to think Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. for hosting this fun event where me and all my friends can have fun and fly kites together,” said Jaqueline, Bloomington youth.

Kite Day remains one of the community’s most anticipated annual events—celebrating togetherness, outdoor play, and the simple joy of looking up at the sky.
