In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. proudly recognized outstanding community leaders whose dedication, service, and cultural contributions have made a lasting impact across Bloomington, Colton, Muscoy, Rialto, and San Bernardino. These honorees embody the spirit of resilience, hard work, and commitment to community that defines Hispanic heritage, and their efforts continue to uplift and inspire residents throughout the Fifth District.

Armando Herrera

Armando is a dedicated community supporter whose generosity has touched countless lives throughout Bloomington and the surrounding areas. He has sponsored Bloomington Little League for many years, donates turkeys for Olive Branch’s annual giveaway, supports school teams and Girl Scouts, and often helps families in need with free tire services. Known for stepping in without seeking recognition—like covering repairs when Olive Branch’s air conditioning failed—Armando continues to embody kindness, service, and dedication to his community.

Kristal Pulido

Mrs. Pulido, a proud Eisenhower High School alumna, has devoted much of her career to serving the Eagle community she once called home as a student. Over her 14 years at Eisenhower, she taught English, AVID, and Yearbook, coached Girls’ Basketball, Track, and Volleyball, and served as Activities Director before stepping into school leadership. Today, as principal, she leads a dedicated team of teachers and administrators with a steadfast commitment to Eisenhower’s Legacy of Excellence. Her vision is to inspire young minds, foster achievement, and ensure every student receives the best educational and high school experience possible.

Escaramuza Group

The Escaramuza group of Muscoy is a proud cultural and community staple, known for showcasing traditional horsemanship through their performances and representing Muscoy in competitions across the region. Beyond their artistry, they are deeply rooted in the community—championing efforts such as the installation of horse signage to preserve Muscoy’s heritage and ensure safety for riders. Their dedication reflects both a love for tradition and a commitment to strengthening community pride.

Gleidy Vasquez

Gleidy Vasquez, a proud Colton resident, is deeply dedicated to serving her community through faith, advocacy, and outreach. She is active in social justice efforts, organizes food and clothing drives, and assists immigrants at San Salvador Church with the process of obtaining their green cards. In addition, Gleidy shares her passion for the arts by contributing to the church’s theater ministry, inspiring others through creativity and service.

Jamie Rios

Jamie Rios may not be a teacher in the traditional sense, but he has dedicated himself to mentoring and guiding the students of San Bernardino High School. As the founder of the Mr. Cardinal and Miss Cardinal ambassador programs, Jamie has created opportunities for students to develop confidence, self-worth, and leadership skills while learning the value of manners and community service. This year, the program proudly welcomed its first autistic delegate—showcasing Jamie’s commitment to inclusion and ensuring every student has the chance to shine. Through his work, Jamie not only uplifts students but also connects the community with the bright, talented, and hardworking young people of SBHS.
