Supervisor Baca, Jr. invested $100,000 of Discretionary Funding to help with the purchase of a tactical robot for the San Bernardino Police Department.

“This tactical robot will play a critical role in supporting law enforcement and emergency response operations, including tactical deployments, humanitarian assistance, and search-and-secure missions,” Chief Goodman said. “By allowing us to remotely assess and manage dangerous situations, this technology helps reduce risk during critical incidents while enhancing safety for our officers, our K-9 partners, and the community we serve.”

“This investment is about protecting lives,” said Supervisor Baca. “By equipping our law enforcement partners with modern tools and technology, we are strengthening public safety while reducing the risk faced by officers and the community during high-risk situations.”

Funding for the project will come from the Fifth District’s share of the Board Discretionary Fund – District Specific Priorities Program, which allows each supervisorial district to support projects that serve a public purpose and enhance quality of life for residents. The City of San Bernardino will provide a matching contribution of at least 25 percent of the total project cost in accordance with County policy.
