Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., hosted his 5th Annual Fall College & Career Day on October 10th, bringing together over 100 high school juniors and seniors from San Bernardino Unified, Rialto Unified, Colton Joint Unified School Districts, and SB County Superintendent of Schools, to prepare them for future academic and professional success.
The event featured interactive workshops and career resource booths with representatives from San Bernardino County Schools, County Fire, Department of Human Resources, Public Works, Workforce Development, District Attorney’s Office, Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, and more.
San Bernardino City Unified School District, Superintendent Mauricio Arellano highlighted, “Really, the message to the students today is to believe in themselves and understand that there are people here that believe in them.” His remarks underscored the importance of community support in helping students recognize their potential and seize opportunities.
“Today is about empowering our young people with the tools, resources, and inspiration they need to reach their full potential,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “Our students represent the future leaders of our communities, and it is our responsibility to make sure they have every opportunity to succeed in college, in their careers, and in life.”
Students were able to connect directly with professionals and explore pathways in higher education, public service, healthcare, and other growing industries.
“My biggest takeaway from today is that there are a lot of events where we can explore different opportunities,” said Lakayla Wise, student from Cajon High School. “I like how everyone was really communicative with us and explained everything that can help us in the future.”
By connecting students to real-world resources and local role models, College & Career Day reflects Supervisor Baca’s continued commitment to building brighter futures for the youth of the Fifth District.
