Today, San Bernardino County officials joined Congressman Pete Aguilar and residents to celebrate the groundbreaking of a long-awaited $4 million street improvement project in the unincorporated Little 3rd area of San Bernardino. The project will deliver vital infrastructure upgrades including full pavement reconstruction, street widening, sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and safer routes to school.

Thanks to strong partnerships and strategic funding, including a $2.5 million federal earmark championed by Congressman Pete Aguilar and $1.5 million in Measure I funds, the long-overdue project is now underway.

“This community deserves to have pride in where they live and feel safe in their own neighborhood,” said San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “The children here deserve safe sidewalks and accessible routes to school. We’re proud to be delivering these improvements to the Little 3rd community; a project that represents more than just roads and sidewalks, but a true investment in our residents.”

Congressman Aguilar, who secured federal funding for the project, applauded the County’s commitment to uplifting underserved areas.

“I am proud to have secured more than $2.5 million for the Little 3rd Street Project to help create sidewalks and upgrade the roads near an area where children play and families go about their daily lives,” said Rep. Pete Aguilar. “This project marks another critical step toward a stronger, safer San Bernardino, and I am proud to partner with Supervisor Baca, Jr. and the County of San Bernardino on this important effort.”

The Little 3rd Corridor project is one of the first identified by the County for federal funding in unincorporated, high-need neighborhoods. The enhancements aim to increase safety for pedestrians, improve road conditions, and elevate the overall quality of life for families in the area.
