La Plaza Park, a vital green space in the City of San Bernardino, is set to undergo a major revitalization thanks to a $1.3 million investment from San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. This contribution represents 75% of the total project cost, with the City of San Bernardino proudly matching the remaining 25%—a true example of collaboration for community benefit.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. for this investment in our city’s future. Parks are the heart of our neighborhoods, and these improvements will ensure our families have a safe, beautiful space to gather, play, and thrive,” said City of San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran.
This joint effort will bring long-awaited upgrades to the park, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and accessible space for families, seniors, and children in the surrounding neighborhoods.
“We’re so excited that long-overdue improvements are being made to La Plaza Park that this community truly deserves. This park will bring a new sense of pride to everyone who lives here,” said Chris Moreno of Suavecito Car Club.
The revitalization project includes the replacement of aging restrooms, the addition of a new playground, restoration of the existing gazebo, concrete and walkway upgrades, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements, new benches and trash receptacles, refreshed irrigation, and the installation of an archway entrance sign to welcome visitors.
“We are proud to partner with the City of San Bernardino to breathe new life into La Plaza Park,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “This project is about more than just upgrades it’s about restoring a space that brings people together and reflects the dignity and pride of this community.”
Together, the County and City are delivering a project that reflects their shared values: investing in public spaces, uplifting neighborhoods, and building a healthier, more connected San Bernardino.
