San Bernardino, CA – Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. welcomed 90 students from San Bernardino City, Colton Joint, and Rialto Unified School Districts to the second annual Government Day, an event designed to educate and engage students on the role of county government and potential careers in public service.
Held at the San Bernardino County Government Center, the event provided students with a firsthand look at the responsibilities of a County Supervisor, the functions of municipal government, and careers within the county. Speakers from the County Administrative Office, Human Resources, and Legislative Affairs departments shared insights into the county’s operations and the various departments in local government.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions, network with professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of how local government works to serve the community. One student shared their experience, stating, “It was great getting to come here today and learn more about what our County is doing for our communities. We’re very grateful to Supervisor Baca for hosting us today,” said Rialto Unified School District Student, Ivan.
Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. emphasized the importance of civic engagement and inspiring the next generation of leaders. “Government Day is more than just a learning experience—it’s an investment in our future. By exposing students to the inner workings of local government, we are empowering them with the knowledge and inspiration to take an active role in shaping the future of San Bernardino County. We look forward to them making a difference in the very communities they grew up in.”
